NEW YORK YACHT CLUB

Saturday, March 24th

37 W 44th Street, New York, NY

Thank you to our speakers and all the attendees at our sold-out seminar!

Safe sailing and see you in 2014.

General:  The US SAILING Sanctioned Safety at Sea Seminar is a certified safety program for offshore sailors, required for many US races and recommended for anyone who wants to learn about safe sailing. Before you head offshore to cruise or race, join us for the most authoritative daylong seminar on safe seamanship, heavy weather tactics, weather forecasting, communications and boat preparation. See safety equipment demos and crew-overboard recovery techniques. Pose questions to our expert bluewater sailors.

This Safety-at-Sea seminar will meet the training requirement in the 2012 Newport Bermuda Race: At least thirty percent (30%) but not fewer than two member of a crew, including the skipper AND the navigator or watch captain, shall have undertaken training within the five years before the start of the race.

This seminar covers the theoretical sessions required in ISAF Offshore Special Regulation (OSR) 6.02. The Bermuda Race recommends, but does not require the practical, hands-on training as described in OSR 6.03. OSR 6.05 requires certain medical training for some of the crew members. These additional certifications are NOT part of this Safety-at-Sea Seminar.
