Gary Jobson Video"It's All About the Sailing" NYYC Trustee Gary Jobson presented his much anticipated DVD "It's All About the Sailing" at a packed club night in New York on Tuesday November 18th. This contemporary history of the club highlighted 164 years of the New York Yacht Club through the eyes of the men and women who shaped it. Annual Awards Dinner 2008 Blair Brown, left, receives the Herreshoff Award from NYYC Commodore Charles H. Townsend at the Annual Awards Dinner on Thursday, November 6. This trophy was given by Captain Nathanael Herreshoff in April 1926. The permanent trophy is a tablet retained by the club and inscribed each year. A suitable medal is awarded to the yacht -- in this case Brown's Sforzando -- winning the most points in the class selected by the Flag Officers that has shown the most interesting and instructive racing during the season. New Members Reception NYYC Commodore Charles H. Townsend welcomed new members -- along with their sponsors -- to the NYYC at this year's New Member Reception in the Model Room on Thursday, October 9th. This annual reception allows newly elected members to acquaint themselves with Club traditions and meet other new members.
