Grande Maumelle Sailing Club

Roland, Arizona

Grande Maumelle Sailing Club was founded in 1959 on Lake Maumelle in Little Rock with the philosophy of being a racing, sailing club and has held fast to those principles throughout the years. The racing is year-round at GMSC with two distinct seasons: a warm-weather series for centerboard dinghies and a cold-weather series raced in various keelboats. Club members have brought home over 15 national or international championships along with many other awards. GMSC also claims an Olympic team member. While the focus is on racing, GMSC is also characterized by the “pitch in” attitude of its members. All of the facilities were built by club members, and the club runs purely as a volunteer organization with the love of sailing as the common thread.

Grande Maumelle’s team for this event arrives with the same balance of keelboat and centerboard dinghy sailing that the club speaks of in their history. The team brings experience from successful J/22, Flying Scott, Y-Flier and J/80 sailing. They hold a multitude national championships as well as experience competing in the US Sailing’s Mallory Cup and the Prince of Wales Cup.
