Club Historymiddle harbour yacht club

Middle Harbour Yacht Club (MHYC) lies on the shores of the Spit, some 7 kilometres north of Sydney's CBD, with spectacular views up Middle Harbour. With a membership of 1500, we are one of Australia's premier yacht clubs, and recognised as a national leader in sail training and associated educational programs. At the highest level of competition in our sport, our Members and their boats have continued a tradition of excellence, winning some of Australia's top events and bringing home many international honours. MHYC is also home to the Australian Sailing Team with the National Training Centre based at the Club. MHYC is well known as the "friendly club" and to many, "the best kept secret in the world!"

About The Team

Skipper: Guido Belgiorno-Nettis
Boat: Mutiny

For their first NYYC Invitational Cup Middle Harbour Yacht Club will have Guido Belgiorno-Nettis at the helm. The team is made up of the Cat 1 sailors from their Farr 40 Transfusion Team. They are continuing Farr 40 racing through the Aussie Winter and have borrowed a boat with similar layout to the Swan 42 to get used to wheel steering and asymmetrical spinnakers. As the winter breezes in Sydney are mainly in the early morning most Swan 42 type training sessions are taking place at 7am. Calling tactics for the team will be Julian Plante. Julian is currently working in Toronto Canada and so will not be involved with any of the training. Having won multiple Australian championships Julian brings a wealth of knowledge and experience.
