After a difficult year for everyone—and a minimum of racing activity—the New York Yacht Club is excited to provide racing sailors will a full menu of options is 2021. The seventh edition of the Rolex New York Yacht Club Invitational Cup—the second to feature the innovative IC37 design—will be a focal point as international teams use Club events to prepare for Corinthian sailing's premiere international championship and the Club hosts a selection trials to determine which team will represent the host club in the competition.
The Melges IC37 schedule will include the class's third national championship in July and inaugural North American Championship in early October. The class will also participate in the 167th Annual Regatta—North America's oldest annual sailing competition—and the One-Design Regatta.
A new addition to the schedule in 2021 is a Women's 2v2 Team Race, which is scheduled for late spring. The Club has a strong history of supporting women's sailing, including hosting the 2010 World Sailing Women's Match Racing World Championship, and team racing. It's great to see these two passions converge. The Club's traditional trio of team races will once again take place during the first three full weekends in August.
The Swan American Regatta will return to the New York Yacht Club as a standalone event for the first time in more than a decade. While the ORC/IRC World Championships scheduled for last fall were unable to be held, the Club is moving forward with its support of ORC. The ORC East Coast Championships will take place in mid July.
We look forward to seeing you in Newport this summer!
