2018 Resolute Cup
September 10 to 15, 2018
The 2018 Resolute Cup is an invitational fleet racing regatta to be sailed in the New York Yacht Club's fleet of one-design Sonar keelboats. This Corinthian keelboat championship amongst preeminent U.S. yacht clubs waas first sailed in 2010 as the U.S. Qualifying Series. While it remains the lone guaranteed pathway for a U.S. yacht club to earn an invitation to the Rolex New York Yacht Club Invitational Cup—which will be sailed in the Club's new fleet of IC37s in 2019—the Qualifying Series has developed a distinct identity. In recognition of that evolution, the Club decided to name the regatta for the trophy that is awarded to the winning team. All competitors must be both World Sailing Group 1 competitors (i.e. amateur sailors) and full members of the club they are representing.
The 2018 Resolute Cup will feature up to 30 of the country's best yacht clubs sailing short courses in equalized boats with identical sails. There will be a two-day qualifying series after which the fleet will be split into Gold and Silver fleets for the final two days of competition. Camaraderie is a key component of the Resolute Cup; nightly social activities are hosted on the grounds of the New York Yacht Club Harbour Court.
