CLUB HISTORY

Harbor Island Yacht Club is located on scenic Old Hickory Lake (a part of the Cumberland River waterway), just to the northeast of Nashville in Wilson County, Tenn. HIYC was formed in 1961 by a group of sailing enthusiasts. The club has steadily grown and now has a membership of over 125 families including active, junior, and associate members. HIYC has several fleets including a large PHRF, Lightning, Vanguard 15 and Laser flees. HIYC also has a very successful Optimist dinghy fleet and junior sailing camp. They have regular regattas planned for each fleet throughout the year, Bluenose Regatta, Y Flyer Nationals, and the Tennessean Regatta just to name a few. They also have many social activities scattered throughout the year.
